This cute little place is nestled at the corner of a commercial building. I made sure to get reservations for right when they opened. The server was very nice and explain everything on the menu. I had the yadwaraj noodles. Simply amazing. Will go back again!

This place was incredibly delicious. The mushroom hor mok and Plah Pla Mueh were AMAZING. Both were so delicious and both unique in their own way. Definitely get the sticky rice too! I could eat both dishes forever. The Saeng wa we ordered was not to my liking. The sauce on the dish was so incredibly salty and overpowering, it was just way too much. If it was a very tiny amount of the sauce I could see it working, but there was just too much on there to make it enjoyable. It was also incredibly spicy. Overall though I would definitely come back and try more dishes.

Kin Khao is a 1 Michelin star Thai restaurant that offers a decent dining experience, deserving of a 3.5-star rating. I visited for lunch with my teammates and started with the Bangkok Posh Salad with fried tofu. The dressing was excellent, though the tofu was slightly too firm. I opted for the Yawaraj vegetarian noodles, which were served fresh and piping hot. The portion was small but tasted delicious, especially with the chili vinegar. One of my colleague had the Khao Soi which I tasted, it was flavorful but a bit too intense. Overall, it was a satisfactory meal, though not something I would specifically crave again.

I believe Kin Khao recently received its first Michelin Star rating. Among typical Michelin restaurants, Kin Khao is definitely affordable. It's quite rare to find a Southeast Asian Michelin restaurant, at least in the Bay Area, so I was very fascinated and thrilled to visit. I went here for my birthday lunch, and they gave me a signed birthday card, which was such a lovely touch. Customer service was definitely top-notch here. The atmosphere doesn't replicate the typical Michelin ambiance, where everything feels elegant, rich, and expensive. However, I did enjoy the authenticity and simplicity that this restaurant offers, debunking the "fancy" vibe that most Michelin restaurants exude. There's no parking associated with this restaurant. Only street parking or parking garages nearby. The restaurant is small, so I highly suggest making a reservation ahead of time. As for the food, they offer traditional Thai dishes with their own twist. - The mushroom hor mok is one of the appetizers we ordered. It's a curry mousse in a jar, which was my first time seeing and tasting a savory mousse. It was a delicious treat, especially combined with the crispy rice cakes. - We also ordered the pretty hot wings for our second appetizer, and it was definitely our favorite. The fish sauce and garlic marinade were outstanding. I use fish sauce and garlic regularly in my cooking, but somehow, these chicken wings achieved a taste that I've never perfected. The wings were very spicy but so delicious. - The Nam Tok Beans were the spiciest dish we ordered. I was actually having a difficult time eating this, but it was very addicting. The cucumber was a great addition to balance out the spiciness. - The Yaowaraj Noodle was another favorite of mine. I would describe it as a leveled-up pad see ew. It was very flavorful and savory, and I wish they gave me a bigger portion. - Khao Soi reminds me of Tom Kha Gai. This is another spicy dish, but not as spicy as the wings and beans. I absolutely loved this dish as well, but I wasn't really a fan of the crispy egg noodle on top. Overall, Kin Khao is a great restaurant. I highly suggest giving it a try, especially because Southeast Asian cuisines are rarely recognized by the Michelin guide. This place truly deserves its rating, and I'm sure that with more time, they'll continually improve their dishes and services.

This was a happy accidental experience! I didn't expect to run into a Michelin star restaurant in a hotel after a conference. In fact, I tried to order takeout. To my surprise, the host said they don't do takeout. However I could order and pack my own food. Like a jerk, I wanted to test this out to the full degree and ordered the prix fixe menu, which is $95 for multiple courses. I tried not to eat too fast and paced myself! The oysters were like nothing I had before. The mingionette was Thai flavor and you just don't get that anywhere else. The salad course was my least favorite course only because it was a bit too spicy for me and the mushroom was a bit bitter. TMI but I had a canker sore so it stung too much. There was a bone broth soup that cleaned the palette. I thought it was a bit too fishy for me. The octopus was yummy and spicy. The caramelized pork belly is to die for. It made me sad that it came with only two slices. The sticky rice went perfectly with both. The beef curry came with regular rice and Gai lan. Definitely save your appetite. I don't know how this was a prix fix order for one! There was so much food. So I packed it up. The entire ambiance was great! Kelly, the bartender, chatted with me from start to finish and I befriended the person sitting next to me at the bar. She shared her noodles and mushroom appetizer with me. Both were really good. With her glasses of wine and two dishes, it equated to $70+ so I was happy with my prix fix. Definitely recommend for a date night. Be prepared for spiciness if you don't tell them your adjustment..

This was my entry into the SF Michelin World and it was a great starter! We really loved the dim lighting and ambience of the restaurant and the server was very helpful in deciding what to order. We started off with the Khao Kan Jin, a flavorful rice and blood sausage dish! It was super flavorful with the fried garlic and shallots, and I'd definitely re-order. However, I would recommend being sparing with the chili peppers as I accidentally crushed too much and it was really spicy. My favorite was definitely the pairing of Plah Pla Muek (Charred squid and seafood sauce) and Caramelized Pork Belly which was recommended. The squid was super fresh and flavorful from the sour sauce, while the Caramelized pork was salty and fatty. I enjoyed dipping the pork in the squid sauce! We ended it off with a rabbit curry which was good but personally wasn't too special to me. Just tasted like a great green curry with rabbit (which tastes almost like chicken), so I would want to try something new next time.
